I have an email account with Hotmail/Yahoo/AOL where I get lots of spam. Can I use PUREmail to filter my Hotmail/Yahoo/AOL account?

No, unfortunately you would not be able to use PUREmail to filter your Hotmail/Yahoo/AOL account (unless of course, Hotmail/Yahoo/AOL decide to use our technology. Wouldn't that be nice ;-) PUREmail is a hosted email filtering solution for an enterprise domain (your company.com).

I have my own email server which hosts my email. Do I need to install any special software on my email server?

No, you do not have to buy, download, or install any new software on your email server. PUREmail is an external solution for Detection, Detention, and Deletion of Un-wanted Email - much before it reaches your email server - thus saving you time, bandwidth and computing resources.

Back to FAQ

Is PUREmail compatible with my email server?

Yes, since PUREmail works independent of your email server, there are no compatibility issues, no matter what type of email server or operating system you use.

I have my own domain, but my email is hosted by an ISP. Can I use PUREmail?

Yes, if you have your own email domain, you can use PUREmail to filter all your incoming email. However, you ISP needs to make a minor change to your Mail-Exchange (MX) records so that your email gets routed to PUREmail servers. It is a very easy change, and your ISP should be able to do it quickly (probably less than 5 minutes), without any interruption to your service.

Does my ISP need to install any special software on their email server?

No, your ISP does not have to install any new software on its email server. PUREmail is an external solution for Detection, Detention, and Deletion of Un-wanted Email - much before it reaches your ISP's email server - thus saving time, bandwidth and computing resources for you as well as your ISP.

Is PUREmail compatible with my ISP's email server?

Yes, since PUREmail works independent of your ISPs email server, there are no compatibility issues, no matter what type of email server or operating system your ISP uses.

How do I set my personal preferences?

After you login to your account at puremail.com, click on "My Preferences". Here you will see an extensive list of common categories (such as Mortgage, Travel, Adult, Health, Fashion, Sports, Finance, etc.). For each category, you may select "Allow", "Review", or "Delete" options. If you want to receive messages under a certain category, then you should select "Allow". In this case, the email messages which fall under this category will not be filtered by PUREmail and will be sent to your INBOX. On the other hand, if you do not want to receive messages under a certain category, then you should select "Delete" - and those messages will be blocked by PUREmail, and will be held for you in a "Delete" folder on PUREmail server. However, if you do not want certain types of message to come to your INBOX, but you do not want them to go to your "Delete" folder either, you may set them aside in a separate "Review" folder on PUREmail server.

How often can I change my personal preferences?

As often as you like. Whenever you change your preferences, they become effective immediately.

I might be interested in travel and vacation (or other) offers, but I do not want my INBOX to be flooded with all the travel related unsolicited email. However, I do not want them to go to my delete folder with all the other junk mail either. Is there a way to set those emails aside in some other folder?

Yes, that is why we have a special "Review" folder just for those types of categories which fall between "wanted" (must-have) and "un-wanted" (outright-reject).

What happens to my junk mail which is blocked by PUREmail?

All your blocked email is held-back on PUREmail server, until you permanently delete it yourself. As part of our basic service, we allocate 10 MB of space to store your mail. You may also purchase additional storage space. Of course, we recommend that you delete your blocked mail periodically in order to stay within your allocated storage space.

Back to FAQ

Does PUREmail delete my junk mail?

NO, we do not delete your junk mail, unless you run out of your allocated storage space.

If I spot something useful among the junk mail blocked by PUREmail, can I retrieve that email?

Yes, you can retrieve any email that is held-back on PUREmail server. Simply click on "Send to Me" check-box right next to the message you want to retrieve, and it will be sent to your INBOX.

Is it possible that an unwanted email may somehow slips thru PUREmail filters and reach my INBOX? If so what should I do?

Since spammers are always trying to find new ways to beat the system, there is always a possibility that some un-wanted email may slip thru our filters. Also, instead of blocking a good email, we prefer to err on the side of caution - and therefore, if there is a slightest doubt, we let the email go to your INBOX. As such, if an unwanted email reaches your INBOX, we recommend that you report it to us so that we can investigate and troubleshoot it.
